I will say though that there is absolutely nothing wrong with healthy competition between yourself and your working spouse as you support each other through career progressions. My wife and I have spent our years trading places and building better lives for the whole family. Progress and continuous development as family values will have you finding a way to turn accomplishment into a repeatable outcome.

Let me ask you this…

How well do you really know the industry that you’re in? The major players, the unsung heroes, and the downward trending? Staying up on the successes and failures of an industry can make all the difference when you’re seeking changes. Manufacturing in the U.S. has been on a steady decline for a growing amount of reasons. Between outsourcing workforces overseas and task process automation. Manufacturers are finding ways to be more productive for less. This includes dramatic differences in headcount stateside. As the technology becomes better equipped in handling the subtle nuances of any given task, the need for the group of line workers disappears. If you’ve ever been in that situation or are currently I encourage you to find out the skills needed to maintain, repair, or design the tech solutions. See if your company allows cross-training or continuous education support. You’ve probably heard that “closed mouths don’t get fed.” Rather than feeling dejected by your income, work on how you can get to where you need to be! Identify some interests, see what it takes and how long it takes to get there and put a plan together to achieve it. If this seems too black and white, drop me a line and I’d be happy to help formulate an action plan.
