Ok tough guy…take your ass to the doctor. — The Daddly Dad

Compared to our female counterparts, on average the fellas are typically the ones to kick the bucket first. We know that we take bigger risks, commit suicide more often, and tend to avoid the doctor’s office like the plague. These and many other reasons, lead us to an earlier grave consistently throughout time. I always sit and think about ways to solve this issue. Of course, we cannot live forever, but I’m a firm believer in taking as much control over our quality of life as possible. As we slowly inch toward our demise, think to yourself simply…how do I feel at my best for as long as possible? This question can be the difference between us living comfortably and watching our kids, grandkids, and great grand grow and thrive or being bedridden and well…jaded.

Keeping up with physicals, doing bloodwork, and attending teeth cleanings does a world of good to keep ourselves healthy. Even more importantly, when something doesn’t feel quite right, technology has given us a wide variety of tools to communicate with our providers and even use telehealth systems so that we can discuss symptoms remotely. There are too many avoidable diseases like the oh-so-familiar type 2 diabetes and heart disease that we can catch early and start to treat before it’s too late and it quickly becomes time to say your goodbyes. I’ll spare everyone the stats and try to appeal to everyone’s practical sense. This goes for all that we do in this life. If you can help it…help it.
